The Tel Tsaf Excavation Project welcomes participants to come and take part in excavating the ancient site of Tel Tsaf. The excavation’s majestic location, the view of the valley, and the team’s social life at the end of the day make for a unique and enjoyable dig. Because of the international team,English is the lingua franca of the excavation and in the evening some lectures in English will be offered.
In the 2018 season we will continue to explore the Village in Area C as well as exploring the western part of the tel in Area E. We will also test specific location around the tel. This season we plan to continue in our efforts to retrieve bio-archaeological data in order to reconstruct past environment in the Jordan Valley and better understand the site economy.
The 2018 excavation will take place from 17.06.2018 and 13.07.2018. The accommodations will be at the Kibbutz Kfar Ruppin hostel. There are three to four people in each room. All rooms are air conditioned, with a small kitchen and fridge, bathroom, and toilet.
The kibbutz is situated about a 15 minute drive from Beth Shean and from Tel Tsaf, on the border with Jordan. It is internationally famous for its birdwatching activities, taking advantage of the wide diversity of birds located along the main migratory path that joins Europe, Asia, and Africa. For more relaxing activities, the kibbutz pool is open every day for free.
